I suspect the underlined portion answers your question; however, the article posted by BTS nicely outlines that it cuts across all party lines. Americans need to demonize Islamically motivated acts of violence and distinguish acts motivated by Christianity to maintain the illusion of difference and superiority. It allows us to reduce the Middle East issues to a singular problem called "religion." Singular problems usually have singular solutions. Change the religion; solve the problem.
Acknowledging that religion has nothing to do with it, that it is a justification used by both religions to excuse bad behavior, leaves us the only option of dealing with the real problems...political problems, many of which are the natural progression of policies we implemented decades ago. Those are much more difficult problems to solve.

What's really fascinating from a psychological standpoint is how the libs on the board have started at least two threads regarding the death of an abortionist at the hands of a white Christian, yet not one has so much as mentioned the black Muslim that opened fire at an Army recruiting center, killed one, and wounded another on the same day as Tiller's demise.

JT, I personally see all the random violence out there as terrorism. I'm wondering, if we added up all the random killings across the country over the last 8 years, would we total the dead in 9/11?
Hhmmmm...that's an interesting thought. Yet, I sorta tend to lean towards terrorism being more targeted...less random. Terrorism seems designed to create and send a message to a particular group and to either encourage or discourage a specific action or group of actions. But, the definition certainly could be expanded. :)

Dinah would have been kicked out of community college if she called someone a "Prick" as a part of her debate strategy. If she pulled that in the board room, even funnier.
Dinah's inappropriate comment is the reason I said that I didn't think he was "especially" attacked. While her comment went overboard, the rest of the comments dealt predominately with the issues. Has there been some emotion? Sure, it's an emotional subject for both sides, but all in all, the responses have been decent. I don't think her one response should have led him to intimate that he was being severely abused. If he did, then he will really, really struggle here.
I am disappointed to see that the thread has turned into yet another abortion debate thread. By labeling it as I did, I was hoping to steer the conversation into a broader discussion of subjects such as why the the news media has repeatedly been termed the killer an "activist" as opposed to a terrorist.
BTW, calling someone a "prick" isn't going to get someone kicked out of community college; he or she will get disciplined, but not kicked out. In the boardroom, they use much nastier language than that! :)

You can expect that your opinions and statements will be agressively tested and, at times, disagreed with. You can expect that errors in your logic will be identified and addressed.
What happened to you on this thread happens in college classes and boardrooms everyday to anyone who raises his or her hand and issues an opinion...at least it does in the best classes and boardrooms..and it's a GOOD thing. In my experience, this was one of the more unemotional theads related to abortion, so if you are struggling with this on, you might struggle on this board.

To suggest the dr would have been safe in a big city is silly. We've had violence towards abortion doctors and the clinics here in Kansas City. These happened back in the 80's and early 90's. We still have protests outside the Planned Parenthood offices.
So true Rodbar. My office is located next to a Planned Parenthood building. Four days a week, we have Bible thumpers outside the office praying loudly on the street, marching back and forth on the sidewalk with signs (including in front of OUR office) and harrassing PP clients. PP must have escorts just to get people safely from the parking lot to the building.
Several times, I have had to evacuate from work because of bomb threats.
